The one word for earrings this season is BIG! Hoops, chandeliers, bohemian styles – they all need to be big and bold like the earrings above from Louis Vuitton.

Asymmetrical necklines were everywhere during fashion week. From Gucci (above) to Lanvin, Prada, Lagerfeld and Valentino, the asymmetrical look was incorporated into everything from evening gowns to casual tops.
Metallic fabrics, especially in gold, were an integral part of the collections from Diane Von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren and Karl Lagerfeld. Whether you go with a little or a lot, add some flash to your look.

Bold blocks of color were a recurring theme in many collections including Gucci, Marni and Celine. In both day and evening wear, it’s an easy way to make a strong statement.

Tribal or ethnic prints and embellishments are a great look for summer. Whether they’re worn head to toe, or mixed with a pair of jeans, items like these from DVF are a must-have.

Jade green was a very popular color seen in many collections this year including Gucci. This might be the color of summer.

Fringe is in, ladies! High-impact evening wear from Alberta Ferretti and Jil Sander illustrates the idea in dramatic fashion, but it can also be incorporated in smaller ways through scarves and other accessories.

Dots are back! But the twist this summer is that they are being used more as embellishment than focal point. Mix them in with a scarf, belt or shoes or in more creative ways like these looks from the House of Holland Show.

The very idea of sheer clothing can conjure up some graphic images for most women. But sheer doesn’t have to mean a peep show anymore. Experiment with layers and even outerwear like this piece from Marni.

Overstated footwear is back in a big way. This summer it’s all about straps, chains, crystals, cuffs, feathers and spikes. But if you can’t afford the Vuitton versions (above), get creative by dressing up your sky-high heels yourself.
