In 2006, her contribution towards British fashion was officially recognized when she was appointed a Dame.
In 2007, Westwood was rewarded with the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion at the British Fashion Awards in London.

Vivienne Westwood is a trustee of Liberty and continues to uses the medium of her shows to talk about culture and politics, more specifically about the urgent need to act against climate change.

“My customers are the best ambassadors for my clothes. When people discover them, they seem to have an edge. Honestly, although I'm very proud of my customers, I also love to dress the supermodels. Glamour has a sense of archetype and I adore those archetypal beauties. Fashion is alive when it is being worn and talked about.”

Where do you go in London to seek ideas for a forthcoming collection? "Culture: Classical music, books and paintings. Museums and galleries."
